AU 2023 – Autodesk’s Design and Make Conference – kicks off next week in Vegas! Join thousands of innovators in architecture, engineering, construction, product design, manufacturing, and media and entertainment, as they share ideas and explore opportunities for the future.

With more than 25 presentations, sessions, workshops, and more, attendees will have plenty of opportunities to learn from Autodesk Research throughout the event. Below are the top five key topics our team will address next week. Be sure to add these – and other Research presentations – to your AU schedule!

Explore the Future of Work

From helping customers adopt modern practices for construction, to exploring how drone technology can create an innovation hub in a rural environment, presenters from Autodesk Research will discuss how we’re redesigning tomorrow’s technology today. Learn how a time traveler’s suitcase can help build future readiness to navigate the unknown and how researchers are using footsteps to tell stories.

Examine Workflow Automation

Autodesk Researchers will also highlight how we’re helping to reshape the future of productivity. With sessions on digital transformation in the construction industry and how to improve and streamline projects, new manufacturing techniques and innovative materials that are making us rethink infrastructure creation, and how automated and AI-powered structural engineering can accelerate building design, our Research team will highlight the work they’re doing to enhance workflow automation in the industries we serve.

Reimagine our Work with Machines

As we help customers prepare to move from “what if?”, to “are you ready?”, Researchers will discuss ongoing work in human and machine collaboration. From using AI-powered workflows in Maya to leverage large language models for intuitive interactions to examining generative AI tools for intuitive building design exploration and unleashing the power of VR content generation, our teams will share their learnings, helping attendees better understand how we work with machines.

Challenge and Explore AI readiness

Autodesk is pursuing original research to identify potential challenges and opportunities related to the use of AI in the industries we serve. We’ll host two “Red Teaming” events at AU for responsible, ethical, and transparent AI. Traditionally applied to cybersecurity concerns, red teaming is an exercise that involves thoroughly questioning plans, policies, systems, and assumptions through an adversarial approach.

Lead in Design and Make

Get an inside look at how Autodesk Research is committed to the design and make platform. Visit the Design & Make Stage where Researchers will participate in quick, flash talks on of-the-moment topics that will include audience participation. These dynamic presentations from Autodesk Researchers, include:

  • Avatar: A Virtual Performance by a Live Actor (Monday, Nov. 13, 7 p.m. PT)
  • Making of a Low-Carbon Façade: Towards a high-performance, carbon negative future (Wednesday, Nov. 15, 11:30 a.m. PT)

We’re excited to see you next week in Vegas!
