Biography

Simon is a Senior Manager and Construction Research Scientist at Autodesk Research, where he focuses on construction intelligence, applied AI, and reasoning systems for the built environment. His work helps construction teams interpret fragmented project information and develop clearer explanations of site conditions.

Simon has worked in both academic and industrial research teams, with experience spanning construction technology, manufacturing software, digital twins, research prototyping, and AI-driven decision support. He has also managed product teams developing software for the construction and manufacturing sectors, giving him a practical perspective on how research ideas become usable tools.

He holds a PhD in visualisation and cognitive psychology, which informs his interest in how people interpret complex information, reason under uncertainty, and make decisions from incomplete data. His current work sits at the intersection of construction delivery, complex systems, knowledge representation, and applied AI.
