Biography

Evgeny Stemasov is a Senior Research Scientist at Autodesk Research in Toronto. His research brings together human-computer interaction and artificial intelligence, with a focus on design tools, generative AI, and spatial computing. Before becoming a Senior Research Scientist, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher (HCI + AI) at Autodesk Research and completed his PhD in Human-Computer Interaction at Ulm University in Germany, where his work explored low-effort, expressive interfaces for personal design and fabrication using extended reality. He develops and evaluates interactive systems that make design more intuitive, adaptable, and grounded in real-world contexts. Evgeny also contributed to teaching and mentorship at Ulm University, and his work has led to conference awards at ACM CHI and IEEE VR, recognitions for outstanding reviewing, and successful research funding proposals.

Outside of work, he enjoys analog photography, web development, and various forms of tinkering with electronic hardware.
